We’ve committed to add 60 MW of solar power by 2021. That's about enough clean energy to power between 10,000 and 12,000 homes. This is our second 10 MW utility-scale solar project in the province.

Our plans to bring solar to the province include opportunities for:

  • independent power producers
  • partnerships with First Nations Power Authority
  • community-driven projects

Why we’re doing it

Our goal is to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by 40% from our 2005 levels by 2030. This means we need to add more renewable energy sources. Solar power is an important part of this plan.

Our progress so far

We're working on the details right now. We expect the competition documents to be ready by early 2019.

Respecting the local environment

We pre-screen all sites proposed by developers for environmental concerns.

Benefits to local communities
