5 Questions with Le-Ann Eidsness on our 2016 Canada's Top Employers for Young People Award

Today SaskPower was announced as a recipient of the 2016 Canada's Top Employers for Young People Award. We had the chance to sit down with Le-Ann Eidsness, Recruitment Manager, to talk about the award and why it's so important to us to be recognized in this area.
  1. What is the Top Employers for Young People Award?

    The award recognizes the employers that offer Canada's best workplaces and programs for young people just starting in their careers. The employers on this list are the country's leaders in attracting and retaining younger employees to their organizations.

  2. Why is winning this award important to SaskPower?

    This award helps to profile SaskPower as a leader in attracting and retaining younger employees. Going forward, there will be plenty of opportunities for young people to build exciting and rewarding careers at our company, in all kinds of different roles and fields of work.

  3. How was it awarded?

    Recipients are chosen based on a competitive application process. Each employer is evaluated on the programs they have to attract and retain young workers. This can include mentorship and training programs, educational opportunities and the number of young employees in the organization.

  4. What are some of the reasons SaskPower was selected for this award?

    There were several reasons why SaskPower was chosen for this award. Among them are our co-op and summer student hiring programs. We also offer internships, good benefits and competitive wages for young people and exciting initiatives through the SaskPower Youth Network.

  5. What are we doing to reach out to young people?

    The SaskPower Youth Network's mission is to act as a resource for SaskPower's youth with the overall goal of creating and fostering a youth-friendly culture at SaskPower. Some of the Youth Network initiatives in 2015 included the annual slo-pitch tournament, events with Executive guest speakers from SaskPower as well as other crowns, and career fairs, to name a few.
