We’re building a new power line to support additional power needed for Foran Mining Corporation’s Mcllvenna Bay project.

The new 138-kilovolt power line will be about 80 kilometres long and connect an existing line near Pelican Narrows to the site of the project, near the south end of Hanson Lake.

Project Stage: Plan, Define and Consult

Our Progress So Far

We’re in the early stages of this project. We’ve done an initial assessment and have developed some potential line routes that will run within a new 40-metre right-of-way.

We’ve started reaching out to communities, rightsholders and stakeholders in the area for feedback. We’ll continue those conversations as we plan and design the new power line route.

We’ll be taking feedback on:

  • power line route options
  • general knowledge of the area, including environmental and heritage resources
  • concerns about the project
  • how we can reduce impacts

Respecting the Local Environment

What we do today impacts our future. We’re always working hard to reduce our impact and protect the environment.

As we plan projects, we use tools like databases, satellite imagery and field surveys to understand the environment we are working in.

As projects move forward, we’ll make sure environmental protection standards are in place to reduce our impact on features like:

  • Waterbodies
  • Sensitive lands
  • Wildlife and their habitats
  • Heritage resources

We also work with the Ministry of Environment and other regulatory agencies to ensure we meet all environmental requirements.

Project Outcomes

When complete, this investment will allow us to provide safe and reliable power for the Mcllvenna Bay project.
