We’ve partnered with Meadow Lake Tribal Council to bring 8 MW of biomass power to the province.

This will be a First Nations-owned biomass project. We expect this facility to be powered up in late 2021.

Transmission project timeline build stage

Why We're Doing It

Our goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% from our 2005 levels by 2030. As we look to power our future, we need a mix of supply options to help us do that. Biomass is a renewable source of power that will power 7,000 homes emission-free.

Nine Saskatchewan First Nations will get benefits through this project. This will support child, youth, family, education and health programs and services.

How It's Getting Built

The Meadow Lake Tribal Council will build, own and manage the project while selling us the power produced.

The facility will burn sawmill residuals from the adjacent NorSask Sawmill to create biomass power.
