We’re connecting a new power line to BHP’s proposed potash mine near Jansen. This will help support growth within Saskatchewan.
Why We're Doing It
This power line will give long-term power to the proposed potash mine.
Our Progress So Far
We consulted with affected stakeholders to select our route. In Dec. 2018, we shared our final route selection. We're now working to finish the power line design.
Minimizing the Impact to You
Feedback from affected stakeholders is important to us. That's why it's a crucial step in all our projects.
For more details on this project, check out our presentation.
Respecting the Local Environment
Environmental studies help us avoid areas that could affect:
- wildlife
- wildlife habitat
- sensitive areas
We use the details from these studies to help us select a corridor. On this project, we engaged Ducks Unlimited. They own land in the area and help to protect wildlife habitat for migratory birds.
Keeping You Informed
Opportunities for feedback on the power line route are now closed.
It's important to us to reduce impact to landowners and farming operations. That's why we'll continue to work with:
- rural municipalities
- landowners
- BHP
