solar facility

We’ve started our search to find an Independent Power Producer (IPP) to build the province’s largest-ever solar facility in Estevan. Once complete, the facility will produce 100 megawatts (MW) of emissions-free power, or enough to power an average of 25,000 homes.

Why Solar?

Our goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% from our 2005 levels by 2030. This means we need to add more renewable energy sources. Solar power is an important part of this plan.

Our Progress So Far

We’ve found a site for the new facility, located on private land near Boundary Dam Power Station.

While choosing an IPP to build the facility, we’ve engaged and consulted stakeholders and community members of Estevan to collect input. Check out the ‘What We Heard’ report to learn more.

We expect the facility to come online and begin producing power as early as 2026
