SaskPower to Hold “Power Talks” Energy Education Sessions

April 26, 2023

As we evolve our power system to meet a growing demand, and changing customer expectations and regulations, we're inviting the public to learn more about supply options being used currently and ones being evaluated for the future.

The Power Talks series will include information sessions about nuclear power, the work of our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project team is undertaking, integrating large-scale renewable power onto the grid, and a closer look at other future generation options.

“Our customers have told us that they want to know more about Saskatchewan’s energy future, and we have made it a priority to share information about what options are being used today and what we’re looking at to power the province into the future,” said Tim Eckel, SaskPower Vice President of Energy Transition & Asset Management. “We're committed to having a dialogue with our customers, sharing information, answering questions, hearing concerns and understanding priorities as we design our future supply plan.”

The Power Talks sessions will feature our experts, industry professionals and other jurisdictions and utilities to provide their experience with the various supply options being evaluated and/or developed in Saskatchewan.

The dates for the Power Talks sessions are:

  • Apr. 27, 12 to 1:30 pm — Your Top Questions About Nuclear
  • May 2, 12 to 1:30 pm and 6:30 to 8 pm — SaskPower’s SMR Nuclear Planning Project
  • May 3, 12 to 1:30 pm — Integrating Large-Scale Renewables
  • May 10, 12 to 2 pm — A Closer Look at Supply Options
