We’re pleased to celebrate the Bekevar Wind Facility coming online! This means up to 200 megawatts (MW) more emissions-free power has been added to our grid. Located north of Moose Mountain Provincial Park, the facility represents the first 200 MW of our goal to add 3,000 MW of wind and solar generation by 2035. It’ll be owned, operated and maintained by Bekevar Wind L.P., which is a partnership between Innagreen Investments and Awasis Nehiyawewini Energy Development L.P. (a wholly-owned entity of Cowessess First Nation).

- South Central Wind Projects (2 x 200 MW)

- First Nations Power Authority Solar Project (100 MW)
- Enbridge/Seven Stars Energy Project (200 MW)
As we take part in the energy transition that’s happening across the globe, we’re focused on providing reliable, sustainable and cost-effective power to our customers around the province now and in the future. We’re also committed to reducing our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to achieve net zero by 2050 or sooner, and we’re on track to do so.
Bekevar Wind Facility is now the second wind facility in Saskatchewan to provide 200 MW. That’s equal to the power needed for 100,000 homes. The other 200 MW facility is Golden South Wind Facility, which opened in 2022 south of Assiniboia. In total, SaskPower now has 818 MW of wind capacity in our supply mix.
We recognize the important role SaskPower plays in Saskatchewan’s economic development. Our company is committed to promoting and pursuing viable business development opportunities through long-term relationships with Indigenous Rightsholders, communities and companies in Saskatchewan.
For all current and future wind and solar competitions, we have included a requirement that proposals must have at least 10% Indigenous ownership. This supports our commitment to economic reconciliation by providing more opportunity for more Indigenous equity and participation.
We celebrate the partnership of Cowessess First Nation, Innagreen Investments and all the companies and agencies involved with making the Bekevar Wind Facility a part of our power future.
