SaskPower Launches New Energy Assistance Program

High utility bills can be stressful, and it can be costly to make energy efficiency upgrades to your home. That’s why SaskPower’s launching an Energy Assistance Program. The program helps lower-income households improve their home’s energy efficiency and save money on their bills. Learn how below!

  1. What’s included in the program?

    Our Home Energy Advisors will come to your home, complete a walk-through and provide you with custom energy saving tips for your home. They’ll also upgrade your home with free energy efficient items that’ll help you save money, like:

    • A smart thermostat
    • ENERGY STAR LED light bulbs
    • A smart power strip
    • High-efficiency showerheads
    • A clothing dryer rack
    • Faucet aerators (kitchen and bathroom)
  2. Who qualifies for the Energy Assistance Program?

    The program is open to SaskPower customers who are homeowners or renters anywhere in Saskatchewan who meet the income criteria provided at saskpower.com/energyassistance

    The City of Saskatoon and City of Swift Current Light and Power have also come together in a new partnership with SaskPower, making it possible for their customers to apply.

  3. How do I sign up for the program?

    Visit saskpower.com/energyassistance to complete the application form. You’ll also need to provide the Canada Revenue Agency’s previous year’s Notice of Assessment for members of your household who are 18 years old or older. 

  4. How will the current COVID-19 pandemic impact the program?

    Our Home Energy Advisors will be adapting their procedures for home visits due to the current pandemic. Changes include:

    • The advisors will ask if anyone in the home has tested positive for COVID-19, has been presumed positive for COVID-19 virus or has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 14 days. If yes, the advisor will defer the visit by at least 14 days.
    • The advisors will use personal protective equipment such as a face mask, disinfectant wipes, sanitizer and latex gloves.
    • The advisors will avoid shaking hands and maintain a physical distance of 2 metres.
