Throughout the Aspen Power Station project, SaskPower and Burns & McDonnell have strived to contract local, Indigenous and women-owned companies wherever possible. We’re very pleased to have exceeded the levels of participation reached with previous power station builds, including our minimum spend commitments for the Aspen project.

Below are the updated spend commitments to date:

Suppliers Minimum Spend Commitment Committed to Date (as of April 1, 2026)
Local (Saskatchewan) companies $364 million $575.6 million
Indigenous-owned companies $54.6 million $265.9 million
Women-owned companies $25 million $41.6 million

At times, specialized equipment can't be made in Saskatchewan and must be procured from out of province. This includes our gas and steam turbines.
