We have implemented a new Power Class Capacity Reservation Service (CRS) Rate Structure to accommodate industrial customers who want to self-generate the majority of their required power on site.
Our previous rates didn’t allow us to recover the fixed costs of providing back-up and ancillary services to industrial self-generation customers. Without the new CRS rates, costs not recovered from these industrial self-generation customers would be borne by all other SaskPower customer classes.
To correct this, the Power Class Capacity Reservation Service rates were approved and implemented on an interim basis. Following a public review process – led by Elenchus Research Associates and monitored by the Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel – the Government of Saskatchewan approved our final implementation of the new CRS rates.
